In Romania erau cunoscuti pana acum drept "Urbani", dar termenul corect international este "Hipster". In ultimul an observ ca se trece la notatia internationala:

ZAHA HADID :: DOROBANTI TOWER

Inca nu stiu multe despe viitorul turn facut de arhitecta Zaha Hadid, dar sunt foarter bucuros si o sa incerc sa explic de ce cred ca este un lucru foarte bun pentru Bucuresti si pentru arhitectura din Romania.

Ca (fost) arhitect ma si bucur, sunt si un pic ingrijorat de concurenta careia trebuie sa ii faca fata arhitectii romani. Dar concurenta creste calitatea asa ca e bine.

Pentru oras este genial. E ca si cum RATB pe langa flota de Mercedes ar adauga si cateva "autobuze Lamborgini" sau chiar "autobuze Bugatti Veiron". Lucrarile arhitectilor atat de celebrii sunt piese de colectie. Bucurestiul este deja un colectionare destul de bogat, are zone istorice, un Balcescu-Magheru cu niste exemple de modernism de toata mandria, Horia Creanga etc...

Dar piesa asta, Turnul din Dorobanti, e o adevarata bijuterie. E genul de lucrare care are toate sansele sa aiba rasunet international. Tot PR-ul acesta rasfrangandu-se asupra orasului. E un reper. Daca totul va merge bine, si chiar se va construi, o sa aduca Bucurestiul un pas mai aproape de orasul viitorului la care am visat de cand eram mic.

Limbajul arhitectural este surprinzator de fin si elegant pentru un obiect la asa o scara.
Si este realizat cu mijloace foarte simple, folosete extraordinar structura pentru a crea un gradient. De abia astept sa vad detalii, terminatii, soclul si multe altele atunci cand va fi gata.

Sper sa revin cu mai multe detalii cand o sa aflu cu cine va lucra, daca va fi un birou partener, ce ingineri structuristi locali va folosi - si alte detalii despre cum a strabatut hatisul birocratic si cum a rezolvat problema parcarilor.

What makes a scene ? It's just a group that does the same thing in a community with maybe a hint of competitiveness. We have words like street-cred. But more about that later.

Let's take the skate scene. It's about learning how to do better tricks and that's just fun. There are many scenes. Hackers have their scene. Then there is the Demoscene closely related. What they have in common is playing with some skill / talent / technique.

This can continue with different genres of music. Music making that is. I'm taking bands, maybe garage bands, but this doesn't cover the fans of the band, that's a different story altogether.

Which brings me to art. Contemporary art. This is a good place for frauds to hide in plain sight. But it's not that bad, it probably was like that even way back. This matter will be sorted off by time - into the forgotten and the revered.

What then with contemporary art ? It spawns an interesting community around it. Bystanders. + Poser artists. + Maybe some PR for some of the unproven / untested posers. + Praisers. + PLUS DRESSERS

DRESSERS just need to hang - it's rather an endeavor of little effort. See - buy - imitate - repeat. Find trendy spot - pose -> Yey!

That's what i think of hipsters in Romania. With them being called URBANS here.
A term they happily embrace.

But the terribly funny thing about this scene is that it's like it's made for frauds.
There is no way to measure - not even the only currency of appearance - it's too subjective. There is no technical thing or skill. Maybe that's why > The whole hipster scene is trying to rub shoulders with tangent scenes - be it skaters - musicians - or non-phony-artists. And in no way is that harmful. It's just funny. Like anything that takes itself too seriously.

Welcome to self irony. Or just tell me it's some postmodern attitude i don't understand.
Whatever you say I'll tell you that geeks got more street-cred in my book.

I know many cool people in many scenes. I look at them and i see they aren't trying hard to prove anything with how they dress or what they do or where they choose to hang.

It's like the old joke with "who has the biggest car - and what's he trying to compensate for?".

This the first building i have seen grow from absolute scratch.

I can remember the first time i saw the ground dug in the shape of what was to become this nice fancy building.
After months of dragging my cursor over the plans it was right there, just a damned hole, but bigger than life.
I actually visualized the cursor being this huge 10 meter long thing, hovering above the ground.

I waited a lot of time to see the facade completed. Well here it is.

Yahoo's got the users or user base and some content - and the maps - the maps that ran away from Flex (supposedly ajax developers were more affordable) But who runs away from Flex ? Aaah!

Microsoft's got windows in my home, and deals with all them hardware vendors, like guess what you'll find on your new lappy, big chances it'll be Vista.

Adobe's got the love of the developers, it's got flash everywhere, and it's getting bigger and better.
I can't help feeling like there 's a secret plan going on with Air, can't wait to see how it develops in a few years.

Google's got us by the habit, and it has an iron grip around many of our needs. I would like to be able to not think of it fondly, but i can't. I'm scared that if it will turn evil all i'll be able to do is immediately go into Stockholm Syndrome.

Ma gandeam azi ca e posibil ca urmatorul scenariu sa fie adevarat:

Romania este o tara in care the Weasels are hard pressed, but they fight back equally hard.
De obicei sunt foarte impotriva afirmatiilor de genu in romania e asa, sau generalizari despre Romania fie ele bune sau cel mai des rele. Dar in cazul asta este o fantezie interesanta si poate cu o oarecare unda de adevar.

Doua statii mai incolo mi-a venit exemplu din partea cealalta, din America. Ma gandisem ceva mai demult ca premiza serialului la care numai Pampas se uita, Curb your enthusiasm, facuta de Larry David. Larry este partenerul de scris al lui Seinfield, este inspiratia din spatele lui George, dar mult mult mai bleg mai sovaielnic, mai weasel. Si in Curb, unde se joaca pe sine insusi, apare mult mai aproape de realitate, fara energia lui Jason Alexander, care l-a jucat pe George in seinfeld. Atat de moale si weak incat e greu pt multi oameni sa urmareasca serialul(Curb adica).

Premiza acestui serial daca ma intrebi pe mine este f f desteapta. Si eu o banuiesc a fi in urmatoarea fraza: "In orice alta societate decat asta a weasel like this one would not survive"
Poate asta e ce vad eu, poate e doar un nivel la care poate fi decodat. Oricum sa zicem ca e asa,
ca asta e premiza, totusipremiza e defapt un truc, si ea functioneaza ca un mecanizm care da de gol diferite hibe ale societatii. Probabil poate fi spus mai frumos, dar asta analiza asta nu e tinta postului asta.

Pointu e mult mai simplu, acolo e altfel, "cum sa pui muzica in autobuz ? daca nu o sa placa tuturor ?" aici functioneaza mai multe legi nescrise care regleaza micile abuzuri muzicale, de la muzica ce poate deranja o petrecere de manele, si e rapid corectata, pana la reversul cu care o manea este gonita din zone in care ea ar deranja. Dar se rezolva repede de catr eoameni, in diverse feluri, nu e o solutie generala, solutia generala e sa te descurci singur, care mai cu tact care mai badaran, si esti judecat dupa eficientza si dupa mod.

Aici apare jmecheria, avem actiuni ca sa ne rezolvam problemele, si actiunile le alegem si suntem judecati dupa modul sau maniera in care o facem. Primim un rating, si avem si sansa sa ne rezolvam problemele intr-un mod original/personal.

Asta e preachingul meu, ma bucur ca nu avem conventii rigide clare pt diversele situatii, si din cate am vazut pana acum societatea americana e mai rigida la faza asta. Dar are alte chestii bune.

Ma gandeam un pic jenat, stanjenit ca ma fascineaza istoria.
Ca sa nu ma simt un book worm, sau nerd m-am gandit la scuze, si justificari pentru ce urmaresc defapt. Ca incerc sa inteleg natura umana, sa vad valorile. Daca cuvintele noastre frumoase cu care ne rasfatam unul pe altul ar fi obiecte ca la programare...
Eu as crede in putine din ele. Doua maxim trei. Dar din acestea dervia toate celelalte - poate foarte adevarate dar ne fiind primare~primordiale au risc de a fi corupte mimate. De exemplu societatea, mica noastra cultura de o transmitem vrand nevrand, ne invatza despre prieteni despre apropiati, despre mila, despre rusine, despre vina. Pareri de rau! Pareri = mie se pare un termen cel putin vag. Dar toate astea deriva din niste trairi primare combinate in diverse feluri. Vina e bucurie amestecata cu frica ca o sa fim prinsi. Si vina, saraca, e una din cele mai simple si mai cinstite. Altele pot fi mimate in feluri mult mai grotesti. Sa fiu eu vreun purist ? Numai Catastif poate sti in ce categorie de gandire ma pot baga.

Trebuintele primare mai sunt si ele pe locuri respectabile. Ele si un pumn de trairi. Plus ceea ce facem, actiunile.

Restu ce gandim despre ceea ce facem sunt un bonus, ne mai ajutam un pic cu ganditul, cateodata o nimerim cateodata nu. Mintea functioneaza on feelings, and thoughts are just a very late addon, and they work as a poor debugger.

As a kid i was very upset with windows. All i knew was my MS-DOS, but i did hate MS for this slow windows they did, and also for DOS-s memory model forcing me towards DOS4GW, now ancient terms, i know. And time passed, i installed Win95, for Blizzard's Diablo.
And then came Quake 2, to show performance gaming was doable on the windows, or the splendidly optimized MDK (French i think). But things that you might believe impossible , prove that you can not stretch your mind far enough to encompass them all. Yet some people build them. Like Prince of Persia, can this be done for 3D ? Hell no blasphemy !
And it's been done beautifully, and I'd trade an old memory for a playable game of our times. Maybe even Worms can be done right in some near future.

Where am i getting at ? Hate and hype come from the same place if u ask me. From not knowing enough about your subject of interest. Both could be exploited, nowadays it's hype is the new black. Hype sells, anticipation, hype, bread and circus for us modern romans.

The deeper i came to know windows (and I'm no expert) the more i loved it, and yes i can say it out loud: i love my win32 as much as i love any other platform independent thing. ( true love is something that comes easy :P )

Thus i can say this, i like apple, i like gloss, and i'd like to believe, but my instinct is cautious on this one. I dont like their style = I've heard them moan and bitch about being sooo robbed by MS, that i begin to feel that they might even like it. I'd like to love apple, I'd like to trust apple but i wish i could see their vision behind that cloud of hype.

See i'm nor hater nor fanboy. There's little passion here, there's just my instincts on thrust and tech. Spread the love.

Eram in magazinul Cocor, si am vazut cutia, totul a costat 3 lei noi.
Adica 30 de mii vechi. Am luat doua ca eram cu fratimiu. Le-am asamblat acasa.
(E un magazin mic la etaju 3 cred in coltzul dinspre piatza Unirii cum ar veni -
un magazin de modelism)

Si le-am testat intr-un miniparc. La inceput nu erau bine echilibrate si picau in nas pt ca nasu era prea greu.
Aripile alui meu erau lipite si nu puteam sa le mut un pic mai in spate. Asa ca am renuntat pe moment la trenul de aterizare.

Imediat a inceput sa zboare. Secretul insa a fost sa strangem foarte foarte tare elasticul sau sa punem 2 benzi de elastic in paralel.
Dupa faza asta chiar au zburat aprox 20 m. Si asta doar la prima incercare.
(Recomand sa luati 2 bucati ca e mai fun si in caz ca se rupe ceva sunt piese de rezerva)

nu e realitatea, e dozarea vietzii si a experientzelor, in ultima vreme am numarat obiecte scumpe pe banda rulanta obiecte care o sa dainuie zeci de ani, materialele unei case, ca dupa ce terminam o casa, tre sa o si masuram, din pacate. so i find myself a bit zoned out. from too much work. like strangely amused and stuff.

dar unde duce introducerea asta? as the wind does pass i notice.... ma amuza foarte tare fascinatia, ..... a momentului, atunci cand sunt uimit, adica WTF !

de exemplu:
family guy: "honey you can't quit sex, you have a responsibility, you are what we call a _ practice girl_" sau south park sau Borat. Clar o sa te uimeasca.
Nu te astepti la atatea mascari, o sa faca toate "faux paus"-urile, sa calce pe yet another convention. And i love being amused and I love being fascinated in general.

(Asta amused-fascinated-surprins-uimit-) E o senzatie foarte misto. Cel putin pentru mine. Poate sunt genu curios. Which brings us to the next point. Desi e blogul meu, o dau aiurea in "eu sunt asa" si in "mie imi place asta si asta" destul incat sa ma duca cu gandu la postul fetei care stoarce pana la os un subiect destul de bun, evident cea care uraste barbatii si hamsterii. Adica nu prea am citit destul cat sa imi dau seama daca subiectu conteaza in felu 1) sau 2). Unde 1) e un fel de succes ca al andresei = adica good writing dar cu acelasi stil daca era baiat murea cu 20 de cititori de gat. Si 2) daca controvesa e sustinuta cat sa devina interesanta. Too lazy to find out.

But the fascination goes on. Next: La blogul cu super multe mascari, un fel de invers de blogul lu Eloa. E mai riscant - conditionare cltuarala cu asa nu / asa cool - face ca de fiecare data cand citim un kinky word sa go like butthead sau ca copii din Southpark "OMG ! She said pula and si said fute !" - dar e riscant ca un efect mai puternic si folosit intensiv poate sa se piarda mai repede. Una peste alta eu, bietu om obosit, cand citeam radeam ca prostu, again am citit cat ma duce atentia de la ora asta 5-10 randuri.

Cand aud despre povestea cu ce ar fi daca nu ar fi existat Romania eu, in loc sa ma gandesc la simpatica campanie pt respectul de sine al Romaniei, ma ia gandul si ma gandesc la urmatoarea chestie shucara:

Poate sa sune ca o intrebare de aia "Rolul Romanie in Istoria culturii si civ .... bla bla " sa zicem "in zona".
Si asa la rece ma gandesc ca e un pic aiurea sa privesti tzarile ca avand un rol, ca si cum si-ar fi propus ceva, ar fi avut planuri maretze.
Sa faca vre-un bine natiunilor invecinate. Adica tzarile - ca un fel de vecini mai fac niste treburi punctuale de minim bun simtz: ajutau la o foamete, sau o calamitate, "pastoreau un revolutionar izgonit". Dar povestea cu " aparat europa si crestinismul de turci", cum imi amintesc ca am fost invatzat, era ca povestile doar ca boring.

Eu cred ca sunt lucuri mult mai abstracte la mijloc, si conceptele de natiune, de identitate nationala, sunt mult mai interesante dezbracate de partea morala:

Am bagat test ala cu sex and stuff. Si dupa multa munca si 2 - 3 intrebari la care nu eram foarte sigur mi-au recomandat sa consider both The Dirty Little Secret and The Playstation pentru ca eu eram The Pool Boy. (Random Gentle Sex Dreamer) Se putea mai bine se putea si mai rau. Asta, Pool Boy, e echivalentul lui Nurse, adica nu prea ma duce capu da eu altfel nu as fi baiatt rau, fac ceva treaba.

The Playstation e o fata "attractive" that is also "nice girl" and has "lots of sex", ceea ce ei numesc foarte funny "healthy physical attitude".
Acum asta e ca si cum ai recomanda mierea la ursi, se pare ca "When guys dare to dream, they dream of" this girl, tot din ce zic ei acolo.

Urmatoare pe care mi-o recomanda, The Dirty Little Secret, este "a responsible pleasure seeker", hmm ciudat. Mai mult, rigurozitatea continua cu :"organized and cautious" -this girl- "chooses her lovers wisely". Daca cunosc genu asta de fete probabil ca sunt al dracului de discrete incat eu nu am bagat nici macar de seama ce obiceiuri au in zona asta. Cica astea ar fi alese de boshorogi, iarasi poate un motiv pt care eu banuiesc ca nu le-am vazut pe strada. In afara de faptu ca par cam prude girls, din ce am citit eu, mai apare si chestia ca they look for a kinky mate. Eu am zis ca aparent astea se bat cap in cap, dar probabil asta e modelu, "aparent cumint", or smth.

Opera e cel mai bun.

Cineva foarte atent si grijuliu a descoperit ca poza mea de pe metropotam (prima aia cand stau langa un hidrant) are fatza strambata. Primul gand a fost evident la Eugen, miselul.
Miselul a fost sunat pe skype si nu si-a recunoscut nicio vina, desi se tot jucase cu "liquify" pe pozele mele nu era el de vina. S-a dovedit ca Firefox e de vina. Daca dadeai view picture poza era aratata corect, strange heh ? Si am inceput sa caut sa vad in ce browser se va vedea bine. Turns out ca numai Opera o arata corect in cadru paginii (repet: Firefox o arata corect doar singura, daca o iei izolat cu "View Picture")

Eugen nu mi-a putut spune cine-i de vina poza sau Firefox, so we gonna have to ask Luf.

S-au dat de gol total intamplator vicii legislative pe care se construise marea imbarligare a englezilor. Primul venit (in URSS), englezul, a pierdut cu un careu de asi in mana. Doi oameni total diferit s-au simtzit unul pe altul, si l-au identificat pe cel care voia sa ii manevreze pa amandoi.

In final Nintendo a castigat( si azi exista intr-un stil mare) , pentru ca a avut emisarul cel mai uman. Morala e ca dealing cu cel mai rece si birocratie monumental de oprimanta, it pays to be human. Person to person. Te-ai astepta sa castige cel imbarligator. Pentru ca sistemu era rau. But in the end, in cel mai apasator si ostil sistem exista oameni(cateodata).

Nu au avut acelasi mediu, nu au avut neaparat valori comune, fiecare si-a aparat interesul, dar au facut un business mai bun si au batut un business magar.

I first saw Ricky Gervais while dissecting comics, cartoons, and comedy shows at Fry's house together with Eugen, I saw him in "The Office", later without even being
prepared he popped up on HBO in "Extras" as Andy Millman, a struggling actor, who only could find work as an extra, in this horribly dull funny world. But here's the subtlety, it's funny because it's dull, and because people are flawed, in character mostly. And you can't even begin to imagine how much material this can provide.

At first i didn't know the Andy's utterly incompetent agent that was fucking things up and not doing one single positive thing, was played by Stephen Merchant co-writer and co-director with Ricky Gervais . Both "The Office" and "Extras" are right up there on my list, and you can catch them even on Romanian TV, one on HBO, and the other on TVR Cultural or BBC Prime, i can't remember. (ore u used to be able to i don't know again) (Anyway Romanian TV shall rule as long as we shall have Futurama, mmmm delightful !)

Gervais wrote and guest-starred in an episode of The Simpsons, and has also appeared several times on The Late Show With David Letterman.

Second on this post we have Martin Short as Jiminy Glick ! Again stumbled upon this great character on HBO, and the man Martin Short, is one crazy good comedy actor.
The reason why i post this two together, British vs. Broadway , is because i believe individualist, crazy good professionally talented people like this mentioned here are the future, and this way, we can see, there is no crisis in comedy, it all goes as planned. All is good. And for a while now, Simpsons will still be king. Even though Futurama is my favourite, and Southpark and Family Guy are also pretty dammed perfect sometimes.

Daca as avea categorii la blog asta ar putea intra la "manual de folosire". For life - For us humans.

I've come to a new conclusion about one of the major things in life, not that new but more consolidated now.
Life is about how you manage your drugs, and by drugs i mean all the pheromones all the fluffy feel good hormones, be it with a rush of blood, soft knees, swirling stomach, or mellow feel good ones, eternal calm... Your other drugs, like a bit of excitement now and then, how much do you need how are you gonna portion this ? Are you gonna let some drug whore you ? Be it danger sports, that get you craving for more and more adrenaline, til you do something so dangerous it's stupid. Then there is the other side. The bad side, when bad shit happens. When bad shit stagnates. When u get bad shit on timed interval. Life is a big salad. U might not want to accept it, but you need the contrast of the bad shit, how that makes you feel, not just as a backdrop to judge the good shit by. You need it for rhythm, the pendulum cant only swing left. Two sides, and you need it to keep swinging. But it's a crazy beat, unlike a heart beat it a very intricate beat.

And now the final conclusion will point you to the most important thing you should watch. Bare in mind i do not give any solution here. So the actual thing you must watch, or the thing that that makes this machine run well oiled or halt and screech to a halt, is ... well it's the combination of events you choose, and events that happen outside your influence. The proportion of this two things is the measure of grace, yea, you attain grace by it ! For you will know you need the bad and the good, and yet it's not as simple as rushing to choose which one you think you need at a certain point in time, luckily you can't 'cos the chances that one would know what he or she needs to compete this most complex of all rhythms are very small anyway. Cred ca am imbatranit un an. Cine crede ca e usor sa duci Erhanul la mare se insala amarnic. E asa un fel de cel mai gru lucru din lume. Nu mai zic ca sunt la al 10 lea attempt. Asa ca in acest weekend suntem de gasit la mare, eu la cort, Erhanul la Ca' Bianca, ca de e prima oara in vama da tre sa se respecte omul.
